Where it all started
Greensmith Energy is founded, pioneering the GEMS platform for energy storage and control.
- 2017
Scaling globally
Wärtsilä acquires Greensmith, significantly expanding its energy storage footprint and establishing itself as a leading grid-scale BESS integrator.
- 2025
Sharpening the focus
Wärtsilä Energy Storage become an independent reporting segment, reflecting the strategic importance and rapid growth of the energy storage business.
- 2026
A new chapter begins
Wärtsilä and RCT Solutions announce plans on establishing a joint venture, bringing together energy storage and supply chain expertise.
