HELSINKI, Finland, October 1, 2026 — Atmos Renewables, a leading Australian renewable company, has selected Valo, the global battery energy storage integrator, to deliver the 400 MW / 1,600 MWh Teebar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). At this size, Teebar BESS is one of the largest battery energy storage projects currently committed for construction in Queensland, Australia.

Located in the Fraser Coast region adjacent to the Teebar Creek Substation, the project will help strengthen grid stability and support the growing integration of renewable energy across the National Electricity Market (NEM). The project is expected to reach commercial operation in late 2028. As renewable energy generation continues to expand across Australia, large-scale battery energy storage systems are increasingly helping to strengthen grid reliability, flexibility, and resilience while supporting greater levels of renewable energy integration.

Valo will support Atmos Renewables in meeting the performance, reliability, and social license requirements associated with Australia's Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), a government initiative designed to accelerate investment in reliable clean energy infrastructure. Teebar BESS has also secured Generator Performance Standards (GPS) approval for grid-forming operation in the NEM. This achievement reflects Valo's extensive experience delivering advanced grid-forming energy storage technology that support system strength, grid stability, and renewable energy integration.

Announced just days after the launch of Valo, the joint venture between Wärtsilä and RCT Solutions, Teebar BESS represents a significant early milestone for the company. The project highlights the experience and capabilities that underpin the new brand, which is built on decades of energy storage deployment in Australia and around the world.

“Atmos Renewables is developing a portfolio of strategically located renewable energy assets to support Australia's energy transition, and we are proud to support that vision with proven energy storage technology and delivery expertise,” said Suraj Narayan, Managing Director Australia, Valo.

“Australia continues to be one of the world's most advanced energy storage markets, and Teebar BESS represents another important step in supporting the country's transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy system. Our extensive experience delivering and commissioning grid-scale battery projects across the National Electricity Market, combined with a strong track record through grid connection and hold point testing, gives developers confidence that projects can be delivered safely, reliably, and on schedule,” he continues.

“Teebar BESS is an important project for Atmos Renewables and will play a significant role in supporting Queensland's growing renewable energy system, whilst providing long-term benefits for the local community,” said Nigel Baker, CEO of Atmos Renewables. “As we move into construction, we're pleased to be partnering with Valo, whose experience in delivering large-scale battery storage projects will help ensure Teebar is built to a high standard and positioned as a quality long-term project for the benefit of all stakeholders.”

The Teebar BESS project will utilise Valo's GridSolveTM Quantum2 energy storage system and GEMS software, combining intelligent energy management with advanced power plant control to optimise performance, support grid requirements, and maximise asset value. This technology foundation will be complemented by a long-term service agreement, providing comprehensive performance and availability guarantees, maintenance, remote operational support, software updates, and performance monitoring.

Teebar BESS expands Valo's Australian energy storage portfolio to more than 7.6 GWh. This demonstrates the trust and confidence customers continue to place in Valo's proven technology, extensive NEM grid experience, and track record of delivering utility-scale energy storage projects across Australia.
